Prayers for the Journey

A Journey Through Namur

We have been told to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and since walking is something all of us do on a daily basis, surely part of praying without ceasing should be taking time to pray while we are walking.

Over the time that Robyn and I have been in Namur I have made it a practice to take prayer walks through each of the different areas of the city.  With every walk I will pray for the people that I encounter and the various buildings that they work and live in.  These prayers are led by the Spirit and concentrate on many different aspects of the lives of the people and the community itself.  I believe these prayers are having a very strong positive affect.

I know that God hears all prayers offered by those who abide in Christ (John 15:7), regardless of time, place, or position.  So now I want to ask for you to join me in this journey with prayers of intercession for the people and places of Namur as I share them with you in pictures and video.  Please take a few minutes each day during the week and pray with me, wherever the Spirit leads, for the buildings or people shared with you.

The University of Namur - June 11, 2012

The University of Namur is the third largest university in Belgium, with approximately 5000 students.  It offers degrees in Art, Computer Science, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Management, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Law and Medicine.  Its priority is to educate students and researchers as responsible and active members of society.

Pray with me this week, as exams are completed, that the students, faculty and staff have the strength to persevere through this trying time for everyone.  Open their hearts and minds to the peace that is theirs for the taking, not only in the academic arena, but in every minute of every day of their life.

  1. Chris and Robyn,
I am joining you in prayer for God to go ahead of you and begin working in the hearts of the people so that they will be receptive to hearing the Gospel of Christ. I pray for divine opportunities for you to share your testimonies of God's goodness and His faithfulness to those that He loves. I pray that the people of Belgium see something in you that they desire...that people will be drawn to you to find out what is different about you in order for you to share about our God who desires a relationship with them. May God bless you as you serve Him so faithfully.

I wanted to let you know that I am praying for you today. The video above was a good "window" for me into your new journey in Belgium. I am praying that the Namur train station will be a connector for God to reach people for His kingdom. I am praying for strategic and influential relationships to be developed that would facilitate the spreading of the message of Hope and Liberation that Jesus came to offer. I am praying that the "veil of unbelief" would be penetrated by the light of the gospel. May you both experience God's abundant goodness and provision today and always. May His spirit be upon you and dwell in every fiber of your being as you minister in power. May you both live courageously and adventurously as you remember HIS past gifts, HIS former promises, and HIS future intentions.
